The Montreal Canadiens have announced their plans for their 100th anniversary season. They also unveiled a collection of vintage sweaters which will be worn throughout the season along with the jersey for the NHL All-Star Game which will take place in Montreal in January.
Four separate vintage sweaters will be used this season. Two will be introduced in the 2009-10 season. An image posted on their official web site shows the new duds.
According to the team, there will be eight Centennial Jersey Nights throughout the season where the Habs will don retro sweaters — two games for each jersey. Before I detail the schedule, I'll tell you about the four jerseys.
1912-13
1915-16
1945-46
1970-71
Interestingly, the jersey they seem to be indicating as the 1970 vintage style is actually just what they wear on the road currently. However, all of the Centennial Jersey Nights take place in Montreal.
The first one is October 4 against the Panthers when they'll wear the 1970 jersey. On November 15 against the Flyers, they'll wear 1945. They'll don the 1915 sweaters on December 4 against the Rangers. And on February 1 they'll wear the 1912 jerseys against the Bruins.
Those jerseys are repeated in the same order for the last four Centennial Jersey Nights on February 21 against the Senators, March 14 when they face the Devils, a week later against the Maple Leafs, and on March 31 when they face the Blackhawks.
As I said, two more jerseys will be introduced for next year from 1909 and 1910. You can see them below. Oddly, they each have 08 on the sleeves but they aren't indicated for use until fall of 2009.
It's going to be a big year for the Habs. I look forward to seeing them in all of these vintage jerseys.

That is an awesome way to celebrate the heritage. I'm just glad we only have to see those All-Star jerseys once this year. And whoever has to play them when they wear those striped jerseys, good luck. Someone may take a ceasure. Godspeed.
Those All-Star jerseys are hideous!
The other are sweet. I like the blue jersey.
Chris, this is somewhat pertinent, so i might as well say it here,
what about an all-star logos/patches tournament? they've had logos for the games since at least the mid 80s, so it'd be a good group. your thoughts?
as for the habs jerseys, i love 'em for their vintage, but that barber pole on steroids jersey must be hell for the commentators, i pity them. the rest, it's sad to see them rbk edgified, but i suppose any change from sweaters is just as blasphemous.
but is that white vintage habs non-edge?!?!
Can't see all the details, but those All-Star jerseys are pretty wacky looking.
Why don't use a vintage jersey for the all-star game ?
If they make those jerseys available to the public I am totally Buying one or more, they are all so awesome.
Ill buy them all andhave them signed
Is it wrong that I am loving the striped one??

You know, I was thinking the exact same thing last night, and was going to suggest it myself. This would be a cool idea, especially since many of the teams hosting the event incorporate their own logo in the design, such as when the Kings hosted the game back in 2002. The All-Star Game logo that year was based off the team's shield logo, which was the primary at the time.
As for the two jerseys in the middle, I have to think they would wear them in a game against the Maple Leafs. That would be amazing.

It's a video from TVA aboutit and at 47 sec., there are great shots at the new jersey!
Awesome vintage jerseys, horrible all-star jerseys. Is it me or does the all-star jersey get worst every year since they started wearing the Edge.
Another tidbit for chris to add, or not the Canadiens have the largest HD display in the NHL now, 40 feet by 25 feet on all 4 sides of the scoreboard.
I wish my Tv was like tht lol

The white jersey is a CCM Vintage
I'm lovin' that 1945-46 jersey! That is sharp!
That 1912 jersey needs more vertical piping!
_my xmas wish list is complete ! i only have to choose between the blue one and the red and black one. great job!
_and please make the olympic stadium game work !
_i forgot: an all star game JERSEYS tournament would rock.
the all-star east/west jerseys have two different sleeve combinations! ick!
90% of those jerseys are laughably ugly
Always loved the white jersey with blue stripe. The updated one they wore a few seasons back friggin rocked!

Can someone create some concept art for the coin?
anyone have any idea why the 45/46 jersey is not in RBK edge updated style like the rest of them?
I've always avoided having a Habs jersey in my hockey jersey collection (70+) but I might get a couple of these retro jersey's if they are made for general sale. Pretty cool. Although I think that striped one might send opposing players and fans into convulsions :)
are we noting the all-star jerseys in there?
If that 1912-13 jersey wasn't a vintage jersey, everyone would hate it for being so ridiculously garish. But since it's an old jersey, that makes it OK ;-)
(Personally, I love it... but I've always liked wacky jerseys.)
If you stare at the 1912-13 jersey long enough, you'll start seeing some hallucinations. That jersey is really something.. I don't know what that something is, but it's something that I hope doesn't become a permanent part of their set for whatever reason. It shouldn't.. but weirder things have happened (Ducks breaking through the ice, trumpets galore)
Well worth to read this article, thanks for sharing this information. With this article you offered me got a chance to know about this, anyway i say Great Article!
