Icethetics Launched!

Hey everybody! Icethetics is officially here and I know you're excited about that. It's a little bare right now, but give it time.

If you're new to this, Icethetics is a brand new blog born from the merging of the NHL Tournament of Logos and Tournament of Hockey Logos blogs. Icethetics will feature the same great combination of reader-submitted concept art and logo voting as well as so much more!

Over the next few weeks I'll be rolling out all the new features and additions including a brand new concept art gallery, an artist partnership program and a brand new tournament for you to cast your votes! And actually, I'm announcing the new tournament today. It's something I've been talking about for several months at NHLToL.

Get ready for the NHL Tournament of Center Ice Logos! (I know you saw that coming.) Each team has in their arena a unique design painted onto center ice — usually incorporating their primary logo — so in this tournament, you'll be voting on whose is the best.

Last year around this time we did a primary logo tournament which was won by the Montreal Canadiens. It'll be interesting to see if they keep that title for another year.

Anyway, I've got a lot going on today as I get this blog up and running. And like I've said, NHLToL and ToHL aren't going anywhere. But as of today, they will no longer be updated. All of your concept art and logo voting needs will have to be fulfilled by the brand new Icethetics blog!

By the way, my email address is not changing. It will continue to be nhllogos@gmail.com.

Enjoy!

First to comment on the new blog! Great job this is awsome. And btw WHAT CENTER ICE WILL YOU BE USING FOR THE aTLANTA THRASHERS BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT BE HOSTING THE ALL STAR GAME AGAIN. Sorry for the caps

Please tell me that isn't the new logo for this blog!

Center ice should be interesting.

How is the center ice of any team so much different from their actual logos. This tournament seems unnecessary because its just another tournament for the best logo... except on ice (wow that will change a lot). I say a mascot tournament would've been a better idea since it is something new.

Awesome... can't wait to see what you bring out now. The centre ice idea should be pretty entertaining... can't wait to see the new third jerseys as well... not to mention the new players who will be wearing them!

There are some teams that have a different design at center ice (like the Coyotes in the past, not sure if they do currently). But usually they're the same. In either case, since I wasn't around for the last tournament of logos, I'd like to be a part of it.

Hey Chris will you be using every teams "natural" center Ice Logo or will the All Star Logos be involved?

I always preferred center ice logos that take up the entire face off circle.
Congrats on the new blog. I wouldn't mind a little color, though

hate the colors.

I like the blue on the borders. Nice job!

What, you can't pony up for a domain name? EH?

Well it was worth a dream. :)

You buy it, I'll use it.

Fair enough, humble leader. Not a big deal!

So I assume all the traditions will carry on, such as the Freak you Out series, etc. Just a new name and look.

(by the way, have you ever considered using the layout that was unveiled around the time of the Worst logo tournament, with the yellow? I think that looked nice.

Absolutely, all the current series will remain intact for continuation. But you'll still have to go back to NHLToL to see all those past episodes.

And I considered that design, but it was met with more displeasure than I was hoping for. It also would've been more of a pain to implement than it was worth.

I plan to keep tweaking this design though and I'm more than happy to take suggestions.

not much of a suggestion, but i really think you should keep tweaking the colors. the colors themselves are nice...but what goes where i'm not a big fan of.

the white middle looks bland...perhaps the light blue there?

the dark gray in the middle like NHLToL?

it just looks bland, and i think you should keep trying things and see what people like.

Congrats on the Bolts signing so many players, where are they getting this money?!
maybe we can get some Lightning concepts soon

Come on people, did we really expect a different color scheme from a 'Bolts fan?!?!?! :P

Keep up the good work Chris!
