IHA Final Art: Northeast

This week we're unveiling of the winning logo sets for each team in the IHA Project. This week we've looked at the final artwork for the Atlantic and West Divisions. Today we move on to the Northeast.

Below are the logos you selected for the IHA. On the left is the team's primary logo. To the right is the secondary and the wordmark is beneath it. Under the graphic is the designer's credit.

There's a big change you may notice. At the request of the league operator, Nicolas, I've swapped colors between the Ottawa Capitals and Toronto Knights. That means the Capitals are now red and the Knights are blue.

To all the winning designers: If you would like your credit changed or a link added, please don't hesitate to let me know. Since you aren't being compensated in any other way for all your work, the least I can do is offer a link to your web site, blog or online portfolio — just in case certain eyes are looking. You never know. However, if you would like to remain anonymous, that's fine too.

Tomorrow I'll unveil the final logo designs for the Pacific Division.

  7. Again all are really good. Quebec, Ottawa, and the primary of Hartford are tops in my books.

  8. I just like seeing the logos against a white background. I have not liked voting for logos on the colored background with the slant lines. It really distracts from the artwork. I think the quality of the artwork is way more apparent this way!

  9. How many bears can you fit in one division? This is why I didn't vote for the bearhead Glacier (And I didn't vote for a Boston logo). Bear glacier doesn't fit when there's a team in your division called the BEARS.

  10. Even if there are a lot of bears, the Glacier logo is just amazing. Professional quality right there.

  11. The Boston Royals logo looks like the Manchester Monarch logo just turned to the side... I agree that this is the best overall set so far. The Glacier logo is great... Is there a rule somewhere that says all Canadien teams have to use either a maple leaf or the fleur-de-lis?

  12. The first two are too cartoony for me.

  13. Ogre, I count only 2 bears. The Royals is a lion :-P.

  14. the bears alt should be changed to the whalers-type b

  15. I think for then new league we are working one, the voting should be done with this layout... the white background and at least the Primary and Secondary marks.

  16. I really like the Bears shoulder logo of the claw grasping the puck, even though the wordmark doesn't do much. It will be interesting to see how they do.

  17. jlueders23 - just the easten teams have to have one or the other. The western teams are free to choose what they want. But Calgary always has to have a horse or something cowboy orientated.

  18. The only thing I don't like is the typeface for Quebec. Otherwise, these are all great.

  19. How about an "H" in the hockey puck on the Hartford secondary logo

Regardless of that a lot of these designs... and I mean all the winners so far not just this post...are WWWAAAYYY better than a lot of professional teams out there - I think this should lead to jobs for some of the designers...nice work folks!!!

  20. why would you name a team Glacier?

  21. Ok, the Royal is a Lion. Two Bears is too many. My point remains the same. The team is called the Bears is in your division, and your logo is a bear in an iceberg. I don't care how nice it looks, you just can't use a bear.

  22. the bears secondary logo is almsot an exact copy of the secondary logo of the old vancouver grizzlies

  23. I don't see anything wrong with using a bear in the glacier in that logo, even with another team called the Bears in that division. Hockey is a tough, fierce sport, and for a logo for a team called the "Glacier", there are only so many ways you can make a glacier look hockey-like.

A question about the Ottawa Capitals. As you said in the post, the Capitals' colors were changed from red to blue at the league creator's request. My question is about the secondary logo. Was that always the secondary logo for that team before the color change, only a blue Canadian flag?

  24. Good eyes on the people who spotted the Grizzlies logo in the Hartford secondary. I hope that's a coincidence.

  25. @ Jason
I noticed that along time ago Its also the Memphis Grizzlies Secondary logo as well that was brought down from Vancouver. Go look at the orgianl post for the bears I was the only one to notice it then and i asked if it was ok to use.

    @Ksy92003
The Ottawa capitals Seconday looked the same but i had the leaf blue where the Red is now.I have to admit though i like it better with the red now.

  26. Ugh! Boston Minutemen is so much better than Royals.

  27. I realized yesterday that the Rogue "R" looks quite a bit like that of Rice University:
