Toronto's New Ice Logo

I've got a quick follow up on a story form Tuesday talking about how the Toronto Maple Leafs are redesigning center ice at the Air Canada Centre this season. It's now been revealed in a video on the team's official web site.

You can see a screen grab from the video currently appearing on their home page or see it below.

I'd call it a huge improvement. What do you call it?

As a Leafs fan, I really like it. The only thing better was the days when it was just a solid blue maple leaf in the center circle at the gardens.

Very nice. Clean, large, nothing awful with the text on the outside- this could have placed very highly, perhaps even won. Better then the penguin anyway...

Looks sharp. Not a huge fan of all the secondary logos outside the circle, but hey, they have to pay for the ice somehow I suppose. HUGE improvement!!!

It looks ok i guess.. it just looks like every other teams' center ice. The habs and flyers are the only teams left now with the old style inverted logos. God i wish the wings would can this hockeytown logo crap.

Well if Detroit cans it, then Buffalo can take it :)

no just imagine if they had used an old-school maple leaf? that would be real change, and a definite improvement..

That doesn't look like every other teams idea at all. A major let down, and a lowering of what they had to get this. You shouldn't do what you can to look like the rest of the league. Do what sets you apart.

Stating this as an impartial bystander, this is why the Canadiens have always been a more profound franchise than the Leafs.

It looks absolutely terrible. It's bad enough to have advertising on the ice. Just another example of overmarketing in the Gary Bettman Hockey League. The Leafs had it right before by having their crest in both halves of the centre circle. Have one logo face the TV side and the other logo face fans sitting on the opposite side. Have more white space in the centre circle just so we can see the puck. In the good old days, the team crest was smaller and in both halves of the circle. Oh, well, the Leafs are the Leafs.

Um just so everyone knows! The advertisements that surround the Leaf are there only for the charity game that was held a the ACC today.

Just thought I would clarify that

That's way better than what they had before, Probably the best Centre Ice they've ever had. Now if only a few other teams would follow this type of arrangement.

I was at the charity game on Friday and the centre ice looked great. Proably could have gone quite far in the centre ice tournament with this design. The ACC atmosphere is very generic and this is a good step to fix that. They also got a big new HD scoreboard.

yes i knew something was different about the scoreboard!

this center ice logo does look pretty good...i mean its still shitty cuz its the leafs (go sabres!) but it looks good...maybe the sabres will put the 3rd jersey logo at center like edmontons primary...that would look great

Not bad, but I liked it better before. It hurts logos that use text when they're blown up like that and the red line covers some of the letters. "TORNTO MALE LEFS"

The Source those ads are for the charity game, but will be replaced with regular sponsors for the regular season, all teams have them.
