Again, another set of 3 strong logos. I'll go with Option #2 as the primary with Option #1 as the secondary.

Option #3 is Milwaukee Brewers-ish.

I went with #1...

I don't think #1 is "clearly" an M. Taken out context, it might not be obvious what it really is. I like #2, but I am also thinking that wheat isn't a very compelling logo. #3 got my vote.

i dont see this set at being very strong. granted, coming up with something for the Millers isnt the easiest of names but none of these logos say "hockey logo" to me. they look like they would fit better for NFL, college or baseball.

Number 2 would make a good secondary, or alternate logo (a la the Carolinas new third). its a strong logo but, i think would look strange as a primary.

All the logos are very well done, and i tip my hat to the artists, but yea. i voted for 2 because it reads best as a hockey logo

what are the general guidelines for a "hockey logo" then?

#2 gets my vote but I'd like to see a little white infused to make it 'pop' more. #1 reminds me of a pick-up league logo or clipart. #3 is too NCAA... I'm getting tired of seeing block capital letters on the front of jerseys.

I really like #3 -- it has kind of a timeless look, rather than the flavour of the month look that many professional sports team use (then toss four years later).

I voted #3. #2 is nicely done as well but I think it's a little too vertical for my taste to be a primary but it'd make a nice secondary. #1, while I appreciate the effort, is kinda "flat".

because im assuming that A Snowballs Chance in Hell's comment was directed toward me, heres my views on logos for different sports.

If you look at the logos of other sports there are some trends that run through the logos. For example, nearly all football logos are "moving" (Bills, Lions, Patriots) to the right or are stationary (Packers, Saints, Colts). Im assuming that this is so they work better on the logo and appear to be "charging forward."

All baseball teams have at least two logos. Some of these logos are duel primary logos. The Yankees are an example of this. The have the interlocking N Y that appears on the Jerseys, hats, etc. Im not sure how many know this, but they have their actual primary logo that is used on more official things ( http://www.sportslogos.net/logo.php?id=1256). For baseball teams, the logo on the Helmets, Hats and Jerseys worn by the players are very simple in design, often consisting of letters. This is probably to make it easier to read from a distance. Think about the Red Sox primary ( http://www.sportslogos.net/logo.php?id=671) on a hat.

Basketball logos are kind of void from this because no baseball team wears their logo anywhere on them. its just located center court.

Hockey is the only sport where the teams logo is put front and center on the chest of the jersey. Most hockey primary logos have a "full" shape to them with little negitive/empty space. Ill take Chris's team, the Lightning. The logo is a lightning bolt with the words Tampa Bay above the bolt in a circle. If you remove the circle the logo becomes more narrow and looks like a "7". the circle give more body to the logo allowing it to fill the front of the jersey. The primary logos are also, for the most part, horizontally based which plays well to
filling up the chest area.

This changes for secondary logos. there is less space on the shoulder and the logos need to be adjusted accordingly. The Sabres secondary, the 'B' with the sword. the elongated shape makes good use of the space on the jersey. but as the primary logo it wouldnt fill the space and look out of place.

The secondary logos that work well as the front logo on alternates follow the rules of both primary and secondary a good example is the Hurricanes and their newly debuted jerseys.

This is my personal view.

makes a bit more sense to me Wozniak. thanks for replying.

When I look at logos, I look at the best logo to stick in front of a jersey.

I went with #3, with #2 being a good alternate.

Ufda! These are kinda weak, no offense. I went with #2, at least it looks like a logo. The other two are just letterhead to me.

I really thought that you would choose the Milwaukee Millers over the Minnesota Millers because most people chose Millers to go with the Milwaukee team due to their relationship with the beer industry.

If you took the #2 logo and flipped it upside down, the grain would make a better "M". A little slant would give it some action, although it may look like three brooms (maybe for a curling league logo?)
