Yeah, if the Buffalo Sabres are trying at all to keep their new third jersey under wraps prior to its official unveiling — they're bad at it. Really bad. The first leaked picture cropped up last week and was followed up on by The Buffalo News a few days later. Now another picture has surfaced.
The image on the left is the original leak. The new one on the right shows the detail of the sweater a bit better. I'm sure this picture was taken with a camera phone and the bad color can be attributed to that. Otherwise, it looks good and I have no reason to question its legitimacy.
Again, the Sabres are set to officially unveil their new third jersey on Saturday, September 20. Yeah, we've seen it now, but I'm sure we'll get a better look when comes out for real.

possibly the best third we will see in a long time. better than most primary jerseys right now.
You know, last week everybody was bashing this jersey for its piping. In the second image, the frontal view, the silver piping actually looks better. And that's the exact reason why I never count out a jersey based on first impressions.
The piping is a nice design tie to the current jersey design with the silver slash/stripe that goes up and over the arm from the side of the waist.

They'll just amend the one started two years ago to include pics. ;-)
I won't be amending my petition anytime soon. It was a symbolic act and it got the message across the first time. And even when I started it to begin with, I encouraged everyone to vote with their wallets. Sadly, when your team is hot, everyone wants to feel like they're part of the action and the new garbage jerseys and logo sold like hotcakes. That's what a 12-0 start will do for you, especially when you were in the Eastern Conference Finals the year prior and the general consensus was that you were the better team.
So no. No more petitions. Just buy the damn thing, and be vocal about how much you prefer it over the slug. Plain and simple.

hey Drew... is it that hard to believe that people may actually like the sabres current uniforms? because i honestly do... just because you don't like it does not mean everyone else has to feel that way too... get over yourself.

Personal taste being just that - personal - means that some will like it. They are in the minority, though (at least the verbal minority.) I like a lot about the current blues, especially after seeing my authentic one in person. However, they would look 100 times better with a different logo (for example, the updated logo shown above.)
of course they would look better with a better logo but who the hell cares. as long as the team wins. a logo doesnt make a good team. hockey is not all about looks. now im not a huge fan of the "slug" logo but it doesnt bother me. as a buffalo sabres fan, i will support the team w/whatever logo.
GoSabres21: you are correct - I'd rather have them winning in plain, practice jerseys with no logo (or, heck, those crazy pink RBK jerseys) than losing in the best jerseys that I can conceive of - but putting a better logo on there won't hurt their play in any way, either. I'd rather have them win just as much with a better logo than with a bad one. If uniforms didn't matter, then they would just wear those plain practice jerseys and this site wouldn't exist. Some fans (I would venture to say most) do care about their teams' uniforms, so why not make them look as good as possible?
I'm quite "over myself," thanks for asking. Hence why once the season started, I bowed out. Sorry if I still take an interest and comment on logos and uniforms on a blog dedicated to such things.

Probably the THOUSANDS of people that come here everyday. They are looking for something...looking to share ideas, scoop jersey leaks, and offer creative ideas on how to either make their team or others out there on the ice at least look better.
Looking good is part the of business of sports as well. There are really only a handfull of die hard loyalists that would throw money at their team even if they played in ass-less chaps.
